Arriving in Germany - that’s a challenge for many people. Ahmed El Khaledi (39 years) is one of those people. In the video he tells his story, why he speaks German fluently and how you can meet people as a newcomer in a foreign country.
Since 2011, Ahmed El Khaledi works for the Ortel Mobile customer support, the leading brand for people with a migration background, as a German-speaking call centre agent in Casablanca, the biggest city of Morocco. He came in touch with German in high school for the first time and really took a liking to the language. Later, Ahmed opted for German language studies that he wanted to continue in Germany. The native Moroccan lived in Germany for 12 years and returned home because of his family.
While living in Germany, playing football was not just a hobby for him, it was a possibility to meet people. That’s how Ahmed gained a lot of German friends. His tip for everyone going into a foreign country: Find a (sports) club. There is no better place for coming in contact with people, even if you don’t speak the language well yet. He still likes to kick ball with his colleagues after work to this day.
