As part of the “Connect Sessions” series, the Berlin producer team KIT invited Natalia Mateo as their guest musician. Together they played the song “Ostrze” (blade/cutting edge).
KIT is a Berlin-based producer team that combines composition, production and lyrics. The result: catchy, crispy-gentle guitar tunes and powerful bass lines - jazz truffles are combined with thick bass sausages, while humming cheap synths in a poly-rhythmic krautrock bed garnish rhetorically dexterous text passages in front of ecstatically dancing crowds.
The singer Natalia Mateo, born in 1983, is a wanderer between worlds - both musically spoken and in real life. She was born in Warsaw and grew up in Austria. Today she lives in Germany and has united and assimilated the various impressions and cultures: Mateo derives her music from the Slavic song tradition and from American jazz, as well as contemporary pop and rock music. Mateo's debut album “You” was released in 2013. Her second album “Heart of Darkness” was released in 2015 and received positive reviews in the national media. She received the ECHO Jazz award in the Newcomer of the Year category for the album. Half of the songs on her third album "De Profundis", released in spring 2017, are sung in Polish.
Together with Natalia, KIT produced the new song “Ostrze” for Ortel Connect. The video was recorded in the Musikbrauerei (music brewery), an urban jewel in Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin. The 120-year-old building has witnessed a great deal - from roaring celebrations in the twenties to the brawls in the early thirties, from the use of its basement as a bunker in the Second World War or as a bugging station by the Stasi - until finally it went to its current owner in 1997. On the ground floor there are two large halls, the huge recording hall with the stage, directly connected to the sound studio of the Musikbrauerei, as well as the large Säulenhalle (portico).
