A piece of Bulgarian folklore to be experienced outside Bulgaria and brought to the stage, it was with this aim that Belčo Stanev, a choreographer from Varna, and a number of Munich dance enthusiasts founded the "Lazarka" dance ensemble in 1991. Today the dance troupe has 45 active members, both German and Bulgarian. The Lazarka troupe has in the course of its existence represented its Bulgarian substance and dance culture at a range of events.
