- Buchen: Check before your trip via the Ortel app or at ortelmobile.de. You can also book your travel package spontaneously abroad – as long as you have internet access, for example via hotel Wi-Fi.
- Activate: Automatic activation after booking. No waiting. Usable immediately. You will receive a Confirmation via SMS.
- Surfing: Mobile internet in over 100 countries, depending on the chosen package. Navigation, social media, video calls – everything is just like at home.
Frequently asked questions about the travel packages
What is the difference between a travel package and Roaming?
Travel packages are fixed data packages at a fixed price – this way you avoid high Roaming costs abroad. For example, you book 6 GB for €9.99 and know exactly what you are paying. Roaming charges are usage-based – per MB or GB.
Do I need to buy a new SIM card for my vacation?
How much data do I need on vacation?
That depends on your usage. For guidance: 2-4 GB is enough for 1 week with WhatsApp, navigation and occasional scrolling. For 2 weeks of streaming and video calls, we recommend 6–10 GB. For those who use the device intensively or are away for 3-4 weeks, 15 GB is a safe bet.
Can I add travel packages to my existing plan?
When should I book the travel package – before or during the trip?
Ideally, book before departure via the Ortel app or on ortelmobile.de – that way you'll be online immediately upon landing. However, you can also book spontaneously on site, as long as you have internet access (e.g. via hotel Wi-Fi). Activation occurs immediately after booking.

Your travel package will not recharge automatically. You have two options:

You do not have to sign a long-term contract. To phone with Ortel, all you need is a mobile phone without a SIM lock. You can order your SIM card online for free or with your starting credit.
Change options flexibly
You can change your Ortel tariff flexibly every month. With Ortel you always are in full control over your mobile phone and telephone expenses.
No additional fees
Since there is no basic tariff yet, there are no additional costs with an Ortel prepaid card. There is no unpleasant surprise when checking the telephone bill.
Flat rate tariffs for smartphone users
Ortel also offers flexible tariffs for smartphone users. Internet flat rates for mobile surfing can be booked as an option - monthly and hassle-free. The good thing is that you can cancel these rates on a monthly basis.
