Since its foundation in Heidelberg in 1973, the Society for African Law has been dedicated to the academic discussion of "African law". By this term we understand all international, state-imposed, traditional and religious legal norms that are related to Africa, i.e. the entire legal culture of all African states in the present and past with its manifold influences.
