The Italian language school Società Dante Alighieri was founded in 1889 in Rome. Named after the poet Dante Alighieri, it promotes the Italian language and culture throughout the world through its 600 delegations in over 60 countries. The Berlin Comitato was founded in 1956 as a non-profit organisation. Many organisations and initiatives are developed to promote inter-cultural offerings. Language courses and cultural events are offered for members. A comprehensive library is also available.
